  Who is a Pilgrim?

A pilgrim can be described as 'one who travels' to a 'holy place'. The most well known pilgrims in Christianity are Melchior, Caspar and Balthasar. They were the three Wise Men who traveled to a holy place, a stable in Bethlehem, to honor and give gifts to a newborn baby.

Since that Christmas, millions of Christians have made pilgrimages to 'holy places': the Holy Land, Rome, Assisi, etc. and to the sites where Mary appeared such as La Salette and Lourdes in France, Fatima in Portugal, Guadalupe in Mexico.

However, one need not travel to a foreign land to make a pilgrimage. Indeed, it is very difficult for most people to make such trips due to family, work or financial concerns.

Shrines to our Lady have always been found throughout the world making it possible for everyone to make pilgrimages. These shrines dedicated to God are truly 'holy places'.

What does one do during a pilgrimage

Pilgrims talk to and listen to God. They re-enforce and, at times, rediscover their life with God. The needs of the pilgrim also play an important part. Many make the effort to travel to a 'holy place' in order to focus on their relationship with God. Others who are ill or have some serious difficulties simply want to spend time talking about it with their God.

A pilgrimage reminds the pilgrim that all of life is a journey to God and with God.

Where is the pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette?

We invite groups to come to the simple, quiet beauty of our Lady's shrine at Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. We believe you will find the shrine to be a place that will give you an opportunity for prayer and reflection.

A typical Day of Pilgrimage follows the schedule below. However, the format is open to change according to the needs of your group. Your input is always welcome. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to let us know.

We always include time for reflection on the Gospel and the La Salette theme of reconciliation. Following a short meditation on reconciliation, the Blessed Sacrament will be in Exposition in the Chapel. At that time, a confessor(s) will be available to share the Sacrament of reconciliation with those who wish to go to confession. Adoration concludes with a Blessing.

Devotions usually consist in the Rosary and/or the Way of the Cross. Weather permitting, one or more of the exercises may take place outside.

The suggested donation for the day is $ 20.00 (per person) and includes hot coffee on arrival and a hot buffet lunch. If a group has their own program and meal then the suggested donation is $ 10.00 (per person)

Our gift shop will be open after lunch for those who wish to purchase religious articles. On Sunday we open for the group at 1:00 P.M. for about an hour to two hours.

Organized groups should have at least 25 people. If a group wishes to come for a pilgrimage at the shrine at Twin Lakes, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can reserve that day for your group:
